I don't know why they set it up like this, but I can only guess that it was because some of the pieces they made wouldn't have fit under the microscope otherwise. It's easy enough to set this back up to normal and I'll do that if it doesn't sell within a month or two. Optics tested April 2023 and everything working properly. Note that the cord to it has been cut, and so you'd need to provide your own external illumination.
